SUNDAY RUMOR
September 30, 2007
Hey guys sorry no other updates yesterday. Here is a rumor by Hockeybuzz.com's "EKLUND": After Habs rookie Goalie Carey price had a good night against the Ottawa Senators stopping 8 of 10 shots.(the goals were not his fault). The rumors are now coming up that Jaroslav Halak will be traded. Eklund believes to Edmonton or San Jose. He says the deal could go down in the next 24-48 hours!!! In MY Opinion:If it's not to San Jose or Edmonton it will be to the Columbus Blue Jackets and we would pick up Nikolai Zherdev.
Anyways so far that is it I will put this in the rumor page to!,

FLAMES BLOG!!!
September 26, 2007
The Calgary Flames finally won a pre season game as Kipper stole the show. The Flames fell behind 2-0 in the first 1:04 in the first period with goals from Marleau and Rissmiller. Juice came back with two goals to tie the game. the Flames were outshot 34-20.
There are still a lot concern here in Calgary they have not played a full good game yet. Kipper stole the game and juice played his best game of the pre season.

CANES UPDATE!!!
September 18, 2007
Remaining Canes Questions
After last weeks look at the offense we’ve got the goaltending and the defense left to look at. I’ll take goaltending first and defense last.
Goaltending
Starter – Cam Ward
Ward has the skill and size to be a quality NHL starting goalie. The question is does he have the stamina, desire and the decision making skills. Stamina and desire look good so far in pre-season. Decision making will be tested in the long season. I fell comfortable with Ward in net, but I know we’re only going as far as he can take us.
Back up - John Grahame
Not only was Grahame a disappointment last season, he looked mediocre at best in the first pre-season game of the year. Grahame has a lot to prove. If he can start 20 games or so and at least be .500 then that should take some of the pressure off of Ward. If he can’t then we’ve got a young goaltender shouldering all of the load again. I like Grahame, but I worry about him quite a bit. He’s going to have to step it up early in the season, or he’ll be on waivers and likely then...

THE LONG AWAITED.........UPDATE
September 17, 2007
Hey guys i know you guys have waited a while there is something really wrong with my computer. Anyway a couple things I saw at the Habs practice sunday!:
They have great solid young players that can do a lot. Some are not ready and need another year in Hamilton or with there junior teams.Anyway I heard Pierre Mcguire say that there recent draft pick Ryan Mcdonagh has about 1 year and a half to 2 years. They have a great chance at winning the cup in about 2-5 years!!!
Anyway i am hearing from Yahoo Sports that The Ottawa Senators have had a couple discussions with goalie Curtis Joseph and also ex-leaf Jeff O'neil. Also hearing from THE PROVINCE which is a Vancouver paper that this might be Naslunds last year as Swedish Elite League team MODO has shown lots of interest!
ANYWAY thats it for now, maybe another update tonight,

DAY 2 AT FLAMES CAMP
September 15, 2007
Here are my notes for day 2 at Calgary Flames camp
thought I would put a small blog up for camp day 2
Aucoin got his legs back
also his shot wow some really good shots
Craig Conroy was very good, he is a lot faster than I thought
Matthew Lombardi was with Tanguay and Iginla, they looked very good Lombardi was actually faster this year if that is in even possible.
Daymond Langkow with Owen Nolan and juice and Juice left the camp early looked like a leg or knee injury
Regher looked solid doing very well breaking up passes solid defensively as usual
Tanguay has had a been outstanding so far he has some real jump.
Warrener looks great his skating has really improved he really did a major work out during the off season, including the skating school.
Cory Sarich looks like he will fit in nicely
The interesting battle will be between Hale and Pardy and Ramholt
To add to that. Word out of calgary is there is one spot for a d-man a forward and a goalie.
Pardy and Ramholt were very good in the rookies side of the practice
Dustin Boyd will be a...

FIRST DAY AT FLAMES CAMP
September 14, 2007
Here on my notes from the first day at Calgary Flames camp
ROOKIES
Dustin Boyd played like a monster by far the best skater was great today(http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=00071963)
Tim Ramholt best day in camp played the best defenisively he has was 10 times better today than the rookie camp Tim showed up today(http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=00062804)
Leland Irving Played very well today didn't look rusty at all did a better job controlling his rebounds.(http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=00077285)
Matt Keetly. Matt was a super star made some terrific saves but sometimes made it harder than it made to be gave up some rebounds but I think he is the best Flames prospect in goal.(http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=00077295)
Kris Chucko Second best forward did some nice hits needs to improve on his skating and build up will be a good one but still a little ways away.(http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=00076352)
Tomi Maki needs to finish but he has tons of grit love his determination to grab the puck.(http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=56756)
Veterans
Alex Tanguay
Wow Scored a great goal in the shoot out and five on five he has the best forward on the ice this man can skate.
Matthew Lombardi
Still the fastest player on the team scored two goals three on three this kid is going...

CANES UPDATE
September 13, 2007
I'm going to take a detour from the questions leading in to camp today. According the News and Observer David Tanabe has been invited to camp. (http://www.newsobserver.com/796/story/702365.html)
Don't be shocked when Dave signs a deal for 1.2 million this season. Plain and simple the Hurricanes are going to have to replace Glen Wesley and Bret Hedican after this season. Wesley has given all he has. He'll be a good d-man again this season, but I really believe this is it for him. He's won his cup. He's going out to win another. He's accomplished all there is to accomplish. Brett may not retire but unless he has a career year he won't be back with the Hurricanes. It's no secret the Canes were hoping to trade Hedican or have him retire. This is the last year of his deal and his last in Canes Red.
This leaves two spots to fill next season on the Blue Line, and no prospects likely to do that. What we've seen already is that signing one UFA defensemen is expensive. Imagine the cost of signing two. The fact is signing Tanabe now and one UFA after the season will be much cheaper...

UP TO DATE WITH THE CANES

Canes questions heading in to the season
Camp begins shortly and the first pre-season game in on Sunday. (Quick note to make all other fans jealous, the game is free to all. Season ticket holders get their seats for the game and the remaining tickets are given out on a first come first served basis.) This is as good a time as any to talk about the questions surrounding the Hurricanes as the season starts. I’ll do the offense today and the defense and goalies in a few days.
Area 1 – Offense
The question on offense this season isn’t where is the scoring going to come from or will there be enough balance. The question is who dresses and who sits. Matt Cullen left after the Stanley Cup victory and neither Letwoski, Bellanger nor Vasicek were able to fill the void he left. After Cullen signed with the Rangers I initially thought, like many Canes fans, thought that as much as Id like to have Cullen here the price was too high and it was money better spent elsewhere. We were all wrong. Cullen brought grit, depth and versatility to the forward lines. He’s a natural center but can...

CANADIAN TEAM CAPTAINS!
September 11, 2007
Todays the day we look at our 6 Canadian team captains!
We'll start in the East and work our way West.
Saku Koivu #11 - Montreal Canadiens
Position: Center
Height: 5'10"
Born: 23 Nov 1974
Born in: Turku, Finland
NHL Seasons: 11
Drafted: By Montreal in the 1st round 21st overall in 1993.
Shoots: Left
Weight: 187 pounds
Saku is a great leader with lots of upside! Unfortunatley he isn't that good of a defensive foward. But what he lacks in size he makes up for in shear speed. Problems have recently surfaced between himself and Canadiens management. Saku stated that he feels that Canadiens are not cup contenders or playoff contenders and he didn't feel that Gainey did enough to improve the club. If this keeps up expect problems in Montreal for captain Koivu.
Daniel Alfredsson#11 - Ottawa Senators
Position: Right Wing
Height: 5'11"
Born: 11 Dec 1972
Born in: Gothenburg, Sweden
NHL Seasons: 11
Drafted: By Ottawa in the 6th round 133rd overall.
Shoots: Right
Weight: 207 pounds
While I personaly don't like Alfredsson. I can't say anything about his talents. I mainly feel that alot of his skill has something to do with his linemates. But thats...

THE HOCKEYGURU
September 11, 2007
I didn't just become a Leaf fan. I was born one, the Leafs are a way of life. Thats what most people don't understand about being a Leaf fan. Me and many others like me hate it when people bash our team. I mean I don't bash the Habs or the Oilers because its wrong. I don't like it when people do it to me, and my team.
Anyways the 1st time I ever saw a Leaf game was when they played L.A. in the Western Finals. Man I hate Gretzky!!!
Anyways today I went to Lake Shore Lions arena and saw the Leafs practice. Maurice had Blake-Sundin-Bell on a line. Anyways they had there new pants on, and there new hockey socks. The pants had the Leaf covered up under black tape. But you could see the rest. The pants had silver piping down the sides and the socks were blue. JUST BLUE!!!

THE FLAMES BLOGGER STORY!!!
September 11, 2007
MY HOCKEY STORY I grew up being a huge leaf fan, it in the era of Sittler Macdonald Turnbal. I was in high school in the first year of the Flames and instantly adopted them as my team. The year that Macdonald was traded to Calgary from Colorado Rockies was one of the greatest years in my hockey life I loved Macdonald and having him was just amazing to me.
Another favorite deal of mine was the John Tonellie trade coming from the NYI for Steve Konrroyd and Richard Kromm. I think this trade was the last notch in the belt for the team to making in into the Stanley Cup Final. I was there in the 1986 when we lost the Stanley cup, including the Fastest Over Time goal by Brian Skrudland and the Habs dismantling the Flame 4 games to 1. I remember how disappointing playing so well, but so far from the Cup.
My favorite Flame was Hakin Loob I remember being upset that he went back to Sweden because of family reasons, but I understood. The year he scored 50 goals, the Flames were a power house but again failed come playoff time. The Flames were...

AVS BLOGGER
September 10, 2007
We got a new blogger he is gonna blog for the avs this is the story of how he became an Avalanche fan!!!
My name is Josh. I grew up watching the Flyers since we didn't have hockey in Colorado until 1995. When the Avs came to Denver my dad tried to buy season tickets but couldn't reserve 4 seats together so we were stuck watching games on TV. As the season progressed, we became less of Flyers fans and more of Avs fans. They had really taken the city by storm around January and by the playoffs, Denver was going nuts. I remember Adam Foote's comment during the Avs parade after winning the cup; he said, "I had no idea that many people lived in Denver." I knew that Denver had become a hockey town and I've been a fan ever since.

HOCKEYGURU'S FIRST POST
September 9, 2007
For HOCKEYGURU'S first post he decided to do a head-to-head with the toronto goalies Vesa Toskala vs Andrew Raycroft here it is...
Vesa Toskala:
38 games played
2,141 minutes played
26-10-1 record
84 GA
914 shots against
4 Shutouts
2.35 GAA
.908 save %
Andrew Raycroft
72 games played
4,108 minutes played
37-25-9 record
205 goals against
1,931 shots against
2 shutouts
2.99 GAA
.894 Save %
The tale of tape is quite clear if you ask me. I mean if there is any battle in goal for the Leafs you have to believe it will be a short one.
Vesa is the obvious choice for many reason. He is quicker and sharper, has better reflexes and a nicer mask!!!! Anyways here is a quick link to Vesa 1st practice as a Leaf.
http://www2.sportsnet.ca/...0906_Toskala_takes_to_ice
While Andrew had a Leaf record in wins he just isn't what the Leafs needed last year. He let in bad goals and couldn't steal one when the Leafs needed him to the most.
Anyways this blog will be short. Next week will look at what Canadian team has the best captain.

CANES BLOGGER
September 9, 2007
Our first blogger to my new site will be a Carolina Hurricanes blogger here is his story on how he became a Canes' FAN!!!
Life story, in a nut shell.
As with most people in the Raleigh area I'm a transplant. I'm originally from Normal, Illinois. I was actually born in Bloomington but who wouldn't want to say there from Normal? It's truly an ice breaker.
Normal is in mid-state Illinois. Almost half way between Chicago and St. Louis. Blackhawk and Cubs territory. The Blues were big in Peoria who has the Rivermen, and I think that's the reason Bloomington/Normal was Blackhawk territory. Bloomington/Normal and Peoria are rivals on the order of the Leafs and the Canadiens.
My first true taste of hockey came when my cousin, who was from Chicago and whose family had much more money than ours (his dad, my mom's brother actually owned the apartment building we were living in at the time) started playing hockey. Needless to say I was beyond jealous. Bloomington/Normal had no ice rink. Ice Skating only happened when the ice on the lake was 10 inches thick. Something that never happened when I lived in Illinois. Skating, let alone playing...
