A TON OF RUMORS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES

October 27, 2007

THANKS TO HABSROCK from hockeytraderumors.com

PER: "http://www.thefourthperiod.com/rumors.html"

Columbus Blue Jackets: GM Scott Howson is believed to be on the look out for a Top Line Centre and Top 4 Defenceman.

Florida Panthers: GM/Coach Jacques Martin has been on the look out for an enforcer to protect his star players. Martin is supposedly looking at Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil and Columbus Blue Jackets enforcer Jody Shelley is thought to also be on Martin's radar.

Los Angeles Kings: GM Dean Lombardi is believed to be shopping forwards Dustin Brown and Alexander Frolov around in an attempt to obtain a goaltender and to improve the Kings all around defensive core. Dustin Brown rumours may be over as LA has apparently signed him to a 6 year extension according to spectorshockey.net.

Calgary Flames: Forward Alex Tanguay has dismissed the possibility of being traded to Montreal for Alex Kovalev, saying he has no reason to believe the rumours as he is perfectly fine playing alongside Iginla and Conroy. CKAC radio station has suggested the Habs offered Steve Begin, Garth Murray and Guillaume Latendresse for Tanguay. Apparently they don't know that Murray has no NHL worth and...

FLAMES-AVS GAME RECAP

October 27, 2007

The Calgary Flames found another way to lose tonight which is typical of this team right now. Ryan Smyth scored the winning goal on a two on one break in overtime on a pass from captain Joe Sakic. The Flames continue to be inconsistant I just hope they manage to fix this problem. Avs goalie Jose Theodore made 41 saves in the victory for the Avalanche.

COYOTES YOUTH AND FUTURE!!!

October 26, 2007

Is The Future Now? Decision Looms For Coyotes

Three games, that is what lies in front of the Coyotes beginning Thursday night with the Anaheim Ducks and ending Saturday November 3rd with the same Ducks. Not only three games against division rivals (the Coyotes entertain Dallas on the 27th) but if young rookie Peter Mueller plays in all three games it will bring his total number of NHL regular season games played to nine. Why is this important? According to NHL rules a player under the age of 20 with remaining junior eligibility is left with two options, return to his junior club (only if he has played in 9 or less NHL games) or stay with the NHL club. The long and the short of it is The Great One and his pundits must make a decision on Peter Mueller’s future in the next week.

Early on Mueller was buried on the fourth line with very little offensive talent around him. He was averaging less than 10 minutes a game and was a healthy scratch against the Coyotes loss to the Minnesota Wild. Since the healthy scratch Mueller has earned ice time with the top line of Reinprecht...

SO OLD YET SO NEW FLAMES UPDATE

October 26, 2007

GAME RECAP

The Minnesota Wild jumped all over the Clagary Flames 3-0 . But the Flames scored three goals about 5 minuets in the second. Then they dominated the Wild in the third and scored the only two goals. Alex Tanguay scored twice to lead the Flames who dominated the Wild in the Second and the third periods. The Scary thing is that Calgary just started firing its like some one put a fire in the flames. The wild stopped skating and let Jarome Iginla loose. Maybe the Flames best game of the season.

"BATTLE OF ALBERTA" RECAP.....

October 21, 2007

Game Report

The Flames proved tonight that you don't take a penalty against this team as Huselius, Phaneuf and Aucoin all scored Power-play goals as they beat the Oilers 4-1. The Flames out shot the Oilers 34-18. Edmonton took to many penalties, when you play with fire you get burnt. The game was choppy all night. Typical battle of Alberta, when it came down to it the Oilers didn't take advantages of their breaks. The Oilers blew two breakaways and went 0 for 6 powerplays. The Oilers had their chance, when you have a chance you have to take advantage of the breaks the Oilers just didn't.

TANGUAY RUMORS.... AND "BATTLE OF ALBERTA"

October 20, 2007

Tanguay rumours won't go away

There several reports including a three team deal . Tanguay says he won't waive his NTC.

As for the game tonight the Flames vs the Oilers tonight . The first of 8 . The Flames still have that record of a player scoring two goals in a game. The streak contiues for game 8 tonight. The Oilers won tuesday against phoenix snapping a 5 game losing streak. After that horrible game in Colorado, The Flames defeated the LA Kings and have gotten points in 4 straight games. It seems that Calgary might be putting it together now. Got lucky as Colorado and LA both lost last night. And yes Tanguay is in the line up.

NOT MUCH....

October 19, 2007

Hey guys right now there is really not much going on its basically just a couple of talks. TSN's Bob Mckenzie says the Pittsburgh Penguins may be looking at another goalie which I Highly doubt unless its a sub-par goalie. I also heard from RDS that the Habs and Flames may be talking about a possible Kovalev for Tanguay deal..... Which I also doubt.

FLAMES RECAP

October 17, 2007

The Calgary flames proved why they are not a stanley cup contender. They fumbled the game away. Kicking the puck into the net three times to give the Avs the victory.. The Flames may not even a playoff team right now. Simply put if you kick the puck in net three times in the net you loose. The flames have found ways to loose this season this is the second time they kicked the way to a lost. The other one being loosing to Vancouver. Keenan has to figure a way for them to win, and not find ways to lose. Fortunately they have plenty of time left. As for anything going on I have not heard anything except right now the Nolan signing is getting some negative feed back. No goals with Langkow and Huselius is not good. It looks like he is just not connecting with his line mates. If there is any good news at least we know the Flames won’t have any trouble scoring. Lucky bounces are going to happen just not on Mike Keenan watch. I smell a bag skate. Oh by the way who is the back up goalie my point exactly. Kipper can’t... [More]

FLAMES BLOG...

October 15, 2007

The Calgary Flames exploded Saturday in beating the Nashville Predators. Kristian Huselius had 2 goals and Langkow, Iggy, Conroy had the others . Goddard scored the winning goal , and Lombardi scored the best goal on a shorthanded tally. The Flames have not won in Nashville since 2002.

Friday Night Mathew Lombardi capitlized on a horrible give away as the Flames beat the Stars in over time 3-2. Lombardi also scored the tying goal on a breakaway late in the third period.
The Flames have not won in Dallas since 2001.

Its a good sign to see the excise the demons in beating the Stars and Preds . They also have broken a record for most consecutive game where the Flames have a player score 2 goals in a game.

The Flames end their road trip on Tuesdays in Colorado.

IT'S BACK...... WITH A NEW BLOGGER AS WELL

October 13, 2007

We have a new blogger. He's gonna be blogging for the Phoenix Coyotes here is his first blog...:

 More of the same?

Three games into the regular season The Phoenix Coyotes are 1-2-0 and have managed 4 total goals while allowing 8. They have yet to score a power play goal and the top line of Doan Kapanen Vrbata has generated 5 points in three games 1-4-5 so where are the signs of progress and optimism moving forward? Perhaps the best sign is the surprising line of Winnik Hanzal Weller who connected on opening night for a goal and has been progressively more aggressive as each game passes. We have been told about Mueller Hanzal, Wheeler, Porter and Turris and how they are the great young players coming up but Weller and Winnik have been surprising additions out of camp. Weller was a draft pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2000 and Winnik was a 9th round draft pick in 2004 signed with the Yotes this off season forgoing his senior season at New Hampshire.

While Mueller seems to be struggling to find chemistry of the fourth line and is receiving limited ice time averaging just over 12:30 a...

It claims Boston needs D-man help. Axelsson might be able to fetch an above average d-man. While Satan or Federov may be headed to Chicago depending on how there young guns turn out.

FLAMES UPDATE

October 1, 2007

HOUSE OF ORDER

Coach Mike Keenan believes that if you take care of the defense, the offense will come. The question is: Did he take care of his own end? Is this defense going to good enough for Mike Keenan's system?

The Flames defense has always be known as stacked, but this season there were a lot of changes, with the departure of Hammer and Stewart, and replacing them with Aucoin, and Sarach. The main question will be: Are the replacements good enough to get a passing grade? Also, the with the emergence of Adam Pardy, the Flames could be stacked again this season.

Adrain Aucoin

His last two years as a Black Hawk are well documented; in short, the Hawks fans could not get rid of Aucoin fast enough. Injuries are the main problem. Once you get the tag “injury prone” it’s really hard to get rid of. Aucoin must be durable with the Flames. If the can stay healthy, Aucoin can be a force with the Flames. Aucoin will be with Dion on the power play. If he will take some pressure off Dion, Calgary’s power play will be a force this season.

Cory Sarich

Sarich is there...
